NO MORE WAFFLIN’: BELGIAN WAFFLES ARE BACK AT WHITE CASTLE®

New Strawberries and Cream Waffles Include Authentic Belgian Waffles, Hand-Piped Whipped Cream

Starting April 5, White Castle is bringing back one of its most popular menu selections from 2014 -the Belgian waffle -offering unique menu offerings available throughout the day.

“Last year we learned that Waffles aren’t just for brunch anymore,” Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle, said. “Our Cravers were looking for that perfect mix of sweet and savory at all times of the day, and our Chicken & Waffle Slider really took Craver Nation by storm.”

An innovative fourth member of the Waffle ensemble, Strawberries and Cream Waffles, will join Belgian Waffle Breakfast Sliders, Chicken & Waffle Slider and Mini Belgian Waffles for 2015.

The sweet treat will be offered throughout the day at White Castle, and will include two mini-Belgian waffles smothered with sliced strawberries in a sweet sauce and topped with hand-piped whipped cream. Belgian Waffle Breakfast Sliders, part of a complete breakfast menu, are available starting at midnight at most Castles, running through 10:30 a.m.

Each Breakfast Waffle Slider includes bacon or sausage, a fresh-cracked egg and cheese between two sweet, fluffy Belgian waffles.

Served all day, the Chicken & Waffle Slider is a breaded chicken breast topped with creamy country gravy and savory bacon crumbles, all served between two warm Belgian waffles.

“We are leading the trend of offering quality comfort food at all times of the day,” Richardson said. “And nothing says comfort food like a Belgian waffle.”

While White Castle is known for baking its own buns for each of its signature sandwiches, the family-owned business is going straight to the source for its Belgian waffles.

Imported from Belgium through Unique Belgique, the brand promises to offer authentic flavor in each bite.

Unique Belgique uses an artisan style production to create sweet, tender waffles made of the finest ingredients on old-fashioned, gas-fired waffle irons.

Here’s Geneviéve, with Unique Belgique, walking down one of the side streets of La Grand Place discussing the company’s partnership with White Castle: Imported from Belgium: Waffles are Back at the Castle”The Belgian waffles in our sandwiches and snacks are genuine and imported from Brussels, Belgium from a partner that began making waffles in 1932,” Richardson said. “

Eating a Belgian waffle in one of our Castles is as close to eating one at a 14th century castle in the heart of Brussels.”

Craver Nation will have a chance to take a trip around the waffle world at White Castle with the restaurant chain’s Belgian Passport promotion, while passports last. Cravers will receive a passport at the restaurant that will allow them to earn stamps for each of the waffle items they purchase. Once all four items on the passport are stamped, the passport can be exchanged for one free Waffle item, of their choice.
